Unfortunately, cancers are a group of diseases which have proliferated significantly, giving us much to be wary and aware of. I realize I’ve already highlighted Bladder Cancer and Brain Cancer Awareness this month. In addition, on the cusp of summer sunshine and outdoor activities in many parts of the northern hemisphere, those in the know celebrate Melanoma & Skin Cancer Awareness Month in May.
In commemoration, the Skin Cancer Foundation will hold its Virtual Gala on May 11 from 6:30 – 7:15 pm EDT. You can join them online for a special program celebrating progress in the fight against skin cancer. Registration for the event is available HERE.
IMPACT Melanoma is in on the awareness as well. They have a couple of events planned, including their annual initiative dubbed “Don’t Fry Day” on May 25. Check in with them for more about their plans. (Details unavailable as of this writing.)
Additional resources on sun safety and skin cancer can be found at the CDC, NCI and ACS.
